I am Shubham Kumar, a M.Tech student in Computer Science and Engg.(Computer Systems) at IIT Gandhinagar, working under the supervision of Prof. Abhishek Bichhawat. Prior to this, I completed my B.Tech in Computer Science and Engg. at Mahatma Gandhi Central University, Bihar. I am currently a member of the FUSS Research Group. Alongside my academic work, I serve as a Teaching Assistant for undergraduate courses, for which I have been awarded an institute fellowship.

Natural Language Processing

Language Identification System

• Developed a language identification model capable of automatically detecting 22 Indic languages from text written in both native scripts and romanized form.
• Utilized a Transformer-based model to convert sentences into numerical embeddings for effective representation learning.
• Trained the model to align embeddings of native and romanized text of the same language, improving cross-script understanding.
• Further fine-tuned the model to classify sentences into one of the 22 Indic languages with high accuracy.
